The Photographic Competition 2018 – Results!!

The third annual exhibition of photographic work by Waldron residents took place in All Saints church on Saturday 3 November. Over 60 pictures from 24 exhibitors  were on display, with a wide range of subject from travel and landscape to portrait and people, and nature to abstract.

Over 100 visitors to the exhibition on the day were invited to record their choice of best exhibit, and the worthy winner from Vicki Redman was a nature study combining great charm and composition. Runners up were an evocative abstract based on the national flag, and a landscape with wildlife in the Danube Delta. There was a unanimous view that the standard of entries was outstanding, leading to ‘complaints’ that the choice of a favourite was exceptionally difficult, and this was borne out by the wide spread of entries attracting votes. The fact that all images were mounted also contributed to a high overall quality of presentation.

It was also gratifying that the majority of entries, including the winner, were taken on phone or tablet cameras or similar. This supports an objective of the exhibition to demonstrate that outstanding work and personal satisfaction is within the grasp of all without expensive equipment.

The exhibition remains on view in the church over the remembrance week-end.
