Sunday Services Following the Lifting of Covid Restrictions

We are awaiting instructions from Church House as to how our services will look from Sunday 25th July. We will keep you informed and updated through the e-news and on our website.

Church Fete NEW DATE:  SEPTEMBER 5TH. 12 Noon to 4pm at Culverwood
Please keep this date in your diary.

You may recall that last Harvest Festival we distributed packets of wildflower seeds as a symbolic gesture, given that there could be no Harvest Lunch.
We are wondering whether anyone has had success and, if so, whether you could let us have a photograph? We think it may be nice to have some on the front cover of our new Parish Diary, so, if you can help, please email any pictures to Ian Dixon (

 St Bartholomew’s New Build Update

Our long held aspiration to have some modern facilities at St. Bart’s is now becoming a reality thanks to the generous support of some individuals as well as a major contribution from Friends of Waldron Churches.
The project commenced on Monday 16th November and progress has been quite steady although the combined effects of the Covid situation and a spell of bad weather has affected the schedule somewhat.
With the steel frame in place and the building cladded, it is really taking shape and we start to see where toilets, kitchen and a meeting room  etc will all fit in.
The various delays mean that we now look to completion during August and, indeed, the Bishop of Chichester is to visit on Sunday 22nd August to open the building.
Financing the project remains an ongoing  challenge as the Covid 19 situation has meant that we have not been able to organise our usual fund raising activities during 2020 and this will remain difficult in 2021 although plans are afoot to address this..
Our  “Buy a Brick” campaign continues to attract donations, but we continue to welcome further contributions,  large or small. Why not add to our list of contributors and feel part of the project? Please see the separate page for details of how you can be involved as we seek to achieve our target of £5,000 from this source;  at £5 per brick it’s only 1000 bricks! June 2021

Meeting Room - Can you help?
Work on our new meeting room is progressing and should be completed by the middle of 2021.The impact of Covid 19 has meant that our fund-raising efforts have been severely curtailed, so we are inviting anyone who feels a connection to our church to support us by “buying a brick”!
Our aim is to raise £5,000 towards the costs so whether you buy one brick or more, every one will be appreciated. Each brick costs £5. You can make a donation by sending a cheque to our Treasurer; Ian Dixon. Brambles, Dern Lane, Waldron, TN21 0PN (01435 813363)
If easier, you can credit our bank account on line; Lloyds (30-98-77) Waldron PCC, Account No.; 02677809. Could you email Ian so he can acknowledge any “online” donations?

Family Support Work (FSW)  June 2021 update

Dear Friends,
As we approach the end of the school year, many of our families have been struggling in recent weeks, as the increased number of Covid cases in schools has meant frequent periods of self-isolation. Our practitioners have been called upon to provide significant emotional support to parents who have found this very difficult to deal with, and the financial impact has been evident as we have had more need of our fuel fund and foodbank to support families where parents have been unable to work because of childcare problems.
Despite this, our families are really feeling positive about the face-to-face contact which we are now able to have with them, and many of them have said that simply being able to speak directly to their practitioners rather than on Zoom or WhatsApp has made them feel better able to cope. We are planning some summer activities for our families, sadly nothing on a huge scale, but certainly involving small groups of families from the same areas. We hope that we will be able to resume all of our usual calendar of family events and activities from September.
Our new practitioners are settling well into their roles and are very busy making connections with local groups. This month we have also welcomed two new administrators to the staff team – Miranda, who will be supporting the practitioner team, and Jo, who will be supporting the fundraising team.
Our Open Garden events have been a little dampened by the unfortunate weather we have been having recently, but we still have 10 dates left before the end of September which we would love to see you at. All the details are on our website. We are also looking forward to our Amberley-Arundel Walk on 12th August and have several groups already registered. Please get in touch with Jo by email if you would like more information.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers as we now head into a very busy time.

June’s work in numbers

  • 235 individual visits and 201 support calls with families supporting 35 grandparents, 310 parents and 319 children
  • 31 supported meetings with other agencies carried out remotely
  • 27 online group sessions held
  • 368 food deliveries made

Prayer points

  • Pray that our new administrators will settle quickly into their roles and soon feel part of the team
  • That our staff will be able to recharge during much-needed time off over the coming weeks, especially those who have had to take on more than usual over the last 18 months
  • Pray for success with some large funding bids that have recently been submitted and would provide vital core income if successful

Nikki Kerr, FSW Director of Fundraising and Marketing
