St Bartholomew’s Project
Well, we got there, just! We were delighted to welcome Bishop Martin, Lord Bishop of Chichester to our church service on 22nd August following which he dedicated the new building which is to be called the Alleluia Meeting Room.
Although not quite completed, we were able to see inside and get a good idea as to what the new building will offer us an, we hope, the local community. This has all only happened thanks to the generous support of some individuals as well as a major contribution from Friends of Waldron Churches.
We expect the finishing touches to be applied over the next few weeks and plan another celebration on 26th September when we feel all should be in place. If you can join us on this occasion please do so.
As you can imagine, financing the project has been an ongoing challenge as the Covid 19 situation has meant that we were not been able to organise our usual fund raising activities during 2020 and this has remained difficult in 2021 although plans are afoot to address this..
Our “Buy a Brick” campaign continues to attract donations, and we are almost there with a complete brick wall! We continue to welcome further contributions, large or small through to the end of September. Why not add to our list of contributors and feel part of the project? Please see the separate page for details of how you can be involved as we seek to achieve our target of £5,000 from this source; at £5 per brick it’s only 1000 bricks!
